The process of detoxification involves many steps, one of which is the transport of toxins out of the body. Often, toxins are present in the gastrointestinal tract, due to biliary elimination into the gut, diet, or dysbiotic gastrointestinal flora. Without the use of an appropriate binder to capture and remove these toxins from the body, numerous toxins are absorbed (or reabsorbed) leading to increased toxicity.* Many types of binders exist which all have a different affinity for various types of toxins – metals, endotoxin (LPS), and other products of dysbiosis or microbial die-off. An optimal binder will thus include a balance of various binders.*
